Organizations, Societies and Classes
CANSCAIP is the Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers.
SCBWI the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is a great resource. They have regional chapters, craft and inspirational webinars and conferences.
12x12 is a challenge that is open (for a fee) every January. They have a goal to write 12 picture book drafts a year. There is a forum, facebook page and supportive community.
Writers’ Rumpus—Authors & Illustrators Wild About Kidlit! contains a list of monthly writing contests, conferences and other events.
Laura Purdie Salas Writing Writing Classes: affordable and in-depth from a published children’s author.
