Sister Anne's Hands
Sister Anne's Hands was written by Marybeth Lorbiecki, illustrated by Wendy Popp. It was published by Puffin Books in 2000.
Set in the 1960s this book explores the relationship between an African-American nun and one of the 2nd-graders she teaches.
I must admit what I loved about this picture book were the paintings. At the back Wendy Popp mentions how she visited antique stores looking for toys from this era to include in the book.
Imagine my surprise when I recognized one of them!
